What is the Now?

January 28, 2011

Here I am not taking about the Now of Eckhart Tolle, this is now in its usual sense with a view to its physical basis.

Each point of the universe has a different now, even so far as what is past and what is future.  So what does now really mean and what does it mean to be ‘in the now’?

I guess this extends in a sort of non-rigorous way to our experience.  Each of us perceives the world differently, in a different Now as it were, and reality can be seen as a consensus of the disparate Now’s: something is happening now if we both perceive it to be happening now; equally something is in the past if we both agree it is past, though the future gets tricky since we don’t know the future.
